I love it when moms share their mishaps. Let's normalize making mistakes! It happens!

As I’ve been thinking about lately, all of this would be amazing for an improv scene:). I used to do a lot of improv. Mistakes are golden.

Last school year my then pre-schooler came home with half of his lunch still un-eaten. I put it back in the fridge and said sternly “well this will be your snack then!” (Reader, it was not his snack…)

Fast forward to packing lunches for the elementary schooler and dad unwittingly put the half eaten lunch in the 1st grader’s backpack. He came home and said “MOM YOU SENT ME LEVI’s HALF EATEN LUNCH!”

So much beige food 🙃 Also, “sometimes I dream of living at Kindergarten” just delights me to no end. Presley is her own vibe and I’m here for it 😉

Her vibe is inspired by Harper’s vibe 😅

I bought school supplies off the wrong list, so I organized them into two bags, one to be returned and one to be sent to school. When I went to pick up what I’d missed off the actual list, I ended up returning the wrong bag, and only realized much too late to correct my mistake before sending kids off to school. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Those early out days, tho 🫠🫠🫠 … the reason why I have so many alarms set on my phone 😆 I’m on my second baby + stroller fail and we are all still low-level traumatized over here 🙃

Once I lost track of time shopping in Target and was VERY late picking my daughter up at school 🤦🏻‍♀️ I literally had to ditch my cart full of items when I realized 😬

Have 100% done that before

your telling of this story had me rolling. confession: it's been over a week since my 7yo daughter had a shower. *shrug* she's been in the pool... does that count?

reading: When Crickets Cry by Charles Martin (it might be predictable - we'll see obviously - but it's already really profound and has lots of lovely biblical and literary references. Also reading through The Message of Ephesians by John Stott as I prepare to lead some discussions about Ephesians this fall. And I'm in the middle of Charlotte's Web with above mentioned 7yo.

wearing: I'm really only here to say I could never - and don't plan to ever try to - pull off the current fashions. Give me my Eddie Bauer ripstop shorts and a graphic t-shirt please. I'm good.

eating (my husband cooks!): we had what was basically Mediterranean nachos the other night - pita chips layered with marinated ground beef and chopped steak, chickpeas, tahini paste with greek yogurt, and some fresh herbs. SO GOOD. In the future, we would make it a build your own thing as the pita chips didn't do well as leftovers.

Oooooh those nachos sound so, so good!!!

This would be so fun. Why is it. My kids fight to eat veggies but I do a build your own and they will add all the veggies and eat it without complaints. I will be doing build your owns on repeat.

"Some days I wondered: will there ever come a day where every fiber of every second is not wholly and completely consumed by motherhood?"

WHEW—I'm in this right now with a newborn and a toddler. As I'm typing this, the baby is crying (from a nap that did not happen) and the toddler is demanding "pea-butter and yelly?!" But it's really nice to know that we all feel the same and have experienced similar stages and seasons! 😂 💕

I occasionally feel devastated by how independent Chloe is, but I'm going to throw a party for myself when girl learns how to safely cut her own nails! BANE OF MY EXISTENCE.

I'm a few chapters into The Husbands and still can't decide how I feel about it. Haha. Like where is this going?? But per your review, I'll keep reading!!

It’s not, like, the best book I’ve ever read, but I flew through it and was pretty entertained by the premise!

Ohhh I loved it! I found it laugh-out-loud funny and also incredibly thought-provoking. It's great on audio—see if you can get it for free on Spotify!

1. The way I have basically given up on trying to get my kids to eat vegetables. Honestly. 2. BEARTOWN!!! One of my all-time faves. 3. "17th denim crisis of 2024" is one of the realest things I've ever read. Godspeed to us all on our denim journeys.

I’m not even a mom (just a childless cat lady) but enjoyed this post so much. It’s the first time I laughed out loud all week.

P.S. As a former first grade teacher who was sometimes at the other end with the “forgotten” child, it was always the best bonding time.

Sue, thank you for reading!!! I honestly think Presley would love for me to forget her again sometime just so she could have one-on-one time with her gem of a teacher 😅

Confession: I just invited people to our sons birthday party on Friday... exactly one week from the actual party via text no graphic or printed invite... (my first time mom self would never lol) lol Also just ordered party decor off amazon and the final bday gifts.. and normally have these things done at least two weeks in advance or start the process a month beforehand. Alas working a full time job thats in the midst of a rebrand, planning for our biggest in person event of the year, ending projects before the fiscal year and keeping up with my 1st and 4th grader has, swim lessons, trying to exercise, figure out what the heck is for dinner every single night, other working mom/adult /30 something things has me a bit stretched thin like most moms I know lol i felt so bad when i realized it was a week away and I had nothing yet tho ugh :/

Also in prek we once got there without shoes because my youngest was always wanting to be carried by me and I didn't realize it until we were in the school parking lot.. had to go by shoes at the store lol

My husband ended up sick sick. Busy day of homeschooling, cleaning, and taking care of hubby. 730 came and preparing for bedtime and the kids said Mommy we didn't have dinner. 🤦🏼‍♀️
