I am stashing this away to hopefully remember to tell our boys in a few years that they can ask if they need something, too. Also, I love how you let go of control & leaned on your husband, your teammate - that is so hard for me, even with seemingly small things.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that your husband supported and your boys wanted to Create Anyway in the midst of an unexpected detour and a tight deadline. They must have a mom that models that for them on a regular basis *wink*
Oh I love this! The struggle of asking for help vs doing it ourselves, the beauty that comes from it all -- so good! Also, just have to say, I wish our kids could meet. My son is big time into origami too (I never had the patience for it, and I have to say, this is a completely unexpected thing for me based on what I thought I knew of him). We couldn’t get valentines here because overseas life I guess, so the kids made theirs too. My youngest didn’t do origami but used the paper we had to create simple but beautiful “cards.” I didn’t have to do anything but buy the candy. 🥰
"He's at peace, content, making art.. working hard. Come to think of it, I am too." LOVE this parallel between your children and you! And I am also crying at so many lines" if you need anything... just ask" ( my inner perfectionist/independent- can I really jusk ask/) needed this reminder, love your storytelling and so proud of you for asking for what you need!
Oh my gosh I love all of this. The story of the boys is definitely my favorite but the valentines and with publicist too. Gosh. How empowering it is to simply ask for what we need.
I have to say, my mother-in-law still puts socks, underwear and toothbrushes in everyone's stocking (17 people). While I thought it was weird when we got married, now with 3 kids it's my fave thing 😊
Love. I can be such a control freak about these things--I love how your boys rose to the challenge and dipped into their creativity! I need to channel my inner Elsa. :)
Oh I can relate to SO MUCH of this. Had the same conversation about socks and underwear with Easton last week! Had no idea he was wearing underwear that were practically cutting off circulation at his hips 😂
I read this and was inspired to ask my husband to pick up some gift cards I need on his way to work! So much easier than me having to load up the kids, but for some reason it never crossed my mind that someone else could do it. Why is that?
I got a few weeks behind on laundry kids are 5 & 3. I put there things away but that night I went to put pjs on my daughter and we went through 3 or 4. When did she get so big. How did that happen.

But why *is* it so hard to ask?!

Me thinking, “can I really do that?” 🤣🫣

Origami valentines?! This is the best.

As always, love this! And thanks again for making every article available to all! 💛 Such a joy every time!
What a fun story and life-lesson!!!! Way to be rock-star mom of independent, creative kids.
