Thank you for writing this and sharing it TODAY. I needed it TODAY. It feels like I barely survived the hours with our two month old son, who currently is scream crying 80% of the time that he is awake, for no apparent reason. We have one older daughter, so part of me knows this stage is temporary. But somehow hearing you describe the stage your son is at was the balm my heart needed right now. Thank you for this vision of the future. Thank you for these sparkles of hope.

I feel this deeply! Thank you for writing about it! It’s disheartening that their seems to be little allowance for children and young families to exist in public. Thank you for your empathy and showing hope for the future to those of us that are in the present of this airplane ride.

Also, I cannot wait for the magazine!

I enjoyed hearing your story “on the other side” of having a toddler. I have a 4 y/o and 2 y/o twins, and I’m finding that as time goes by, it’s becoming easier. I was the first of my friends to have kids, so starting to see my friends with newborns has drawn out compassion. While it was a lonely time for me, I know I want to be the friend towards them that I wish I had during those days. 🧡

Forgive me if this isn’t the right place to ask this (I don’t have any social media and I’m still learning how to use Substack 😆), but I was wondering if you have any recommendations for books on writing. My best friend and her husband have a dream to write and I want to get them a book to help them get started (they mainly want to write articles about their faith). Do you have any favorites? Love everything you write and can’t wait to get my magazine in the mail! (I think I was one of the 6 people who ordered it minutes after the email came out 😂)

I'm deep in a post-cult-documentary binge and it's reminding me of that time on the C&C podcast you said you love polygamist escape memoirs (hard same). Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey as well as Escaping Twin Flames are intriguing without being *too* creepy!

Such a good reminder bringing me back to days when I had had 5 under 6 😅😅 they are currently 5 under 8.5 but it’s certainly been a year of transitions and grief and processing all of that! Also thank you for sharing that JCrew dupe off of Amazon...I too rarely purchase there but I love quality recs!

1. Beautiful essay. I love hearing from you and other mothers ahead of me on this wild journey. And to know not everyone is looking at you in judgement or pity but in some sort of distant camaraderie.

2. I'm going to boldly proclaim this as my favorite line of 2023: "champagne taste on a canned cocktail budget"

Yes yes yes to the compassion for crying babies on planes!!! I have two absolute nightmare stories from my kids + travel, plus lots of just stressful moments. Whenever I hear a crying baby on a plane, I just feel sympathy and DEEP relief that it’s not mine this time. 😅🙏🏼

That dress is so fun and looks amazing on you!

Thank you! My baby was VERY fussy on an airplane and it's so hard!

Ha, I am the opposite of you and have been wondering if I should add more neutrals to my wardrobe! I always gravitate toward bright colors and prints. But I have been eyeing the purple version of that Knox Rose dress for a while and think it might be going on my Christmas list.

So excited for the C+C magazine!!

I just finished I Am, I Am, I Am by Maggie O'Farrell and it was brilliant. If you haven't read it yet, I really think it's right up your alley, Ashlee. Now I want to read some of her fiction.

Oooo that dress! I always think of you know when I see 🐞🐞🐞like little love letters from Jesus.

I, too, wanted to add color to my neutral wardrobe this year and get complimented on a burnt orange sweater I have every single time I wear it 🧡

My favorite book right now is Bri McKoy’s The Cook’s Book— she is like a joy bomb in the kitchen and has a video series of recipes, too.

I have also resonated with Annie F. Downs AFD in NYC podcast mini series this fall.

Lastly, Katie’s wedding dress substack was 🔥

I love the dress! Perfect for the holidays. Also, I’m excited because I will *finally* be purchasing Create Anyway this weekend. 🤓 I’m new to Substack and have been enjoying your content so much. It has been an inspiration for me, so I can’t wait to read the book.
