I've said it before and I'll say it again - you do you here on this platform. I will happily read more than one piece a month from you or anyone! It's my new Instagram and I love the inspiration I'm getting here! Give us all the links and reccs and then give us some stories and essays and writing pieces too! ✨
Always here for a link roundup! (Also wondering where blogging ends and Substacking begins. Is this my new blog now? Who knows? Did I just get charged again for my basically defunct Squarespace blog? Yes!)
I have wondered this as well! I think it's going to be my blog. I just last week moved all of my newsletter subscribers over to Substack and am going to start posting whenever the heck I feel like it! I just barely escaped getting charged for another year of Wordpress premium for my website, so I feel you!
Also I HAVE to share this book: we are wolves by Katrina Nannestad. It's written for kids but you know someone is a very good writer when they are writing for kids and I, as a grown woman, cannot put the book down and left a beautiful impact on me.
100% with you on the John Mulaney special! Love, love, love the ordinary link round-up! I smile when your name pops up in my inbox, no matter what the content.
I just started a Substack as a means to create a newsletter. I feel like I'm dating out of my league and question whether I should be slumming it with Flodesk ;).
My favorite thing might be a list of favorites. Looking forward to your book.
Watching the new (second) season of Sweet Tooth on Netflix!! It’s kind of a weird show, but also I just can’t stop watching? What’s the name for that genre? 😂
Your face mask choice BROUGHT ME BACK. It was what I used weekly as a teenager. I used to work at Walgreens and this would be one of several things I'd collect from the beauty department.
After listening to the latest podcast episode about hospitality, I created (very basic) invites for my son's K class to come over and have a last day of school water party celebration! Planning on getting out a bunch of water toys and our inflatable water thingy (don't ask me, kids got it for Christmas) and providing popsicles and hot dogs. I'm super excited, so thank you for the nudge!
Thanks for the reminder that I don’t have to do a newsletter just because it feels like that’s what everyone else does, and if I want to share articles, podcasts, fun things, etc. I can just do that!
As for things to share... currently working my way through the third book in Anthony Horowitz’s Hawthorne & Horowitz Investigate series and it’s so good! It’s been a while since I found a mystery series I love, so my crime novel loving heart is so happy!
Ashlee, I always love your newsletter format and the perfectly random assortment of things you love, what you are reading and a look into your current season of life. Please continue sharing things you love, because it probably means a lot of us moms will love it too.
Yes to all the links! I'm off of social media (thanks to your January break that I just decided to continue!) so I feel like this is one of the few times when I can get a feel for what things people are loving 'out there.' lol appreciate the time and energy you take to share with us Ashlee!

I appreciate you, Kym!

My feelings on this are SO DANG COMPLICATED. "Is this my new blog now?" ---> have asked myself this Q something like 47 times.

that email you received! 😭🥰
I love the post and when people I like share links! :) Keep 'em coming!
I loved Maggie Smith's book too. And I'm currently (late to the game) reading Tiny Beautiful Things.
I need to re-read that one ... it's been a while!
Also I HAVE to share this book: we are wolves by Katrina Nannestad. It's written for kids but you know someone is a very good writer when they are writing for kids and I, as a grown woman, cannot put the book down and left a beautiful impact on me.
Oooooh thank you, adding to the library queue!
I read We are Wolves in German while on a jury for a children's book award and it is soooooooo good. I loved it.
Amazing how a kids book can be so wonderful for us too! Can't wait to read more of her work 🥰
This was HILARIOUS and heartfelt and the analogy made me laugh! Thank you Ashlee!

I had to Google what DTR means. #imoutoftouchwithdatingreferences #arewesupposedtousehashtagsonsubstack
HA. I think I let that whole thing go on a bit too long but whatever.
No! It was perfect. And then when Laura Tremaine used DTR on the C+C podcast today, I knew what she was talking about. 😆

Never heard of it! Off to google!!

It has stood the test of time! My friend Anna got me hooked on it.

Only you can do a round up this charming 😉
