My six year old frequently asks for alone time and while I’ve always given it to her, it took me awhile to be proud of her emotional regulation skills instead of slightly offended 😂.
So glad to see I’m not the only one whose loving watching the summer I turned pretty right now!! 😅 just finished reading the authenticity project by Clare Pooley and I loved it so much!! Also this story and parenting moment just beautiful 🫶🏼☀️❤️
Demon Copperhead was hands down the best book I read last year and so far this year 36 books in, nothing has come close to it for me. I heard Ezra Klein did a fantastic podcast interview with her if you're interested! I want to be Barbara Kingsolver when I grow up.
Can’t wait to read Demon Copperhead. And your story about Presley -- watching our children become more independent and aware is amazing (and sometimes hard!).
I am also a 16 year old girl trapped in a 37 year old body- and I’m loving watching the summer I turned pretty. I also listened the audiobook of “it’s not summer without you” (the 2nd book in the series) this week and it was narrated by the actors from the show which was so fun.
DUDE PERFECT 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 My mom and husband took my boys to see them on tour this summer as well (while I stayed home with my newborn) and they had the time of their lives!! Big fans over here and it’s exciting to be in good company.
Oh sweet Presley! My oldest daughter is v similar and is also just getting into Legos and this story made me smile. 🙃 As did the Part Time Poets shout out and so many of your recs... I’m going to snag that cookbook ASAP!
Ooooh I could see that (re: DC). If you haven't used Supergoop yet, prepare to have your life changed 🤣 I swear it is the BEST face sunscreen on the planet (I have tried so many!!!). Glides on like a dream.
The story about Presley and the Legos made me laugh because it is so relatable 😂 Hannah has been “taking some privacy” and wanting to do things “self, self, SELF!!” since she was about 2 1/2.
Also, I love colorescience! Their 3 in 1 total eye cream is the best.
Oh I haven't tried the eye cream yet!! Laughing about Hannah. Sometimes Pres will just look at me and say, "Uh, mom? A little privacy please?" But when I try to use that same line on her ... whole different story. 😅
I KNEW the book you were describing was Demon Copperhead before I clicked on the link! I read that book when it was first released and I STILL think about it often. Just really incredible overall.

Seriously though. 🤣 Simultaneously offended and also proud of her for articulating what she needed, ha.

Just added to my reading list, thank you!

Oh thanks! I'll have to look that up!

I haven't read any of the books yet, but that is good to know re: the audiobook! I've been listening to the TV show soundtrack all week 😜

It was SO fun. I hope they come to Sacramento again!
Well, I love everything about this. I should put “I think I need a little alone time” on a bookmark (and a t-shirt). 😂
🤣 Right? This is one of the mantras of my life, ha.
Always love your book recommendations, I’ll be adding Demon Cooperhead to my TBR, even though the length intimidates me!
I am an avid reader and the length intimidated ME. But once I started, I couldn't put it down!
Wow, Presley’s story made me laugh! You did everything right mama! What an independent woman you are raising!!

Demon Copperfield is on my TBR but I’m from Appalachia and I’ve heard it hits differently in that case.
Went immediately to buy some Supergoop. That’s the adulting insight I need 😂

Completely agree with you about Demon Copperhead. Love the story about the LEGOS!
I adore this story and all the recs! I look forward to this round up every month!!
Oh Pres ❤️ And I really love your all the things collections. So perfectly and uniquely you. Xo.
