Same!!! I can not bring myself to wear denim skirt no matter how cute I think they look on all the cool gals. Always and forever Baptist Bible college vibes
I was trying to edit something, and instead accidentally deleted my reply comment. Sorry for being a super awkward commenter, Sophie and Ashlee 🫠. Forcing myself to put my phone now now, lol.
Ok, but what kind of jeans ARE we supposed to be wearing?? On the hunt for a new style and I feel lost, which feels so wrong because I literally sold jeans at The Gap for two years in college 😂. Also, is it just me or is it really hard to find something without a raw hem?? Like, why? *crisis rant over*
I just shared with a friend that I secretly like to hear when other parents mess up because then I don’t feel so alone. Crushing it alongside of you. Also, VERY fun when my worlds collide-- shoutout to @ElizabethJanuzzi and her wonderful gift of words! 💛
You know I feel like this is 100% something that I would do! 😆 My youngest has Reading Club the next 12 weeks after school, and I’ve literally set an alarm for every. single. one.
I'm halfway through Ken Follett's newest novel, Armor of Light, and it is a delight as always. And tonight I'm making SkinnyTaste's sweet potato beef stew, one of my very favorite winter recipes! 🥰
AHH the horror! This makes me feel better for dropping Chloe off at school in regular clothes last Friday because I thought it was a non-uniform day. It wasn't. She refused to take her coat off at school and her teacher contacted me and asked me to please bring her a change of clothes. SIGH. I'm just right there with you, friend, in the *crushing it* AND in the not having any food even though I'm always grocery shopping. I started wearing my mom's old Wrangler denim midi skirt last year. I love the length of yours!
Oh sweet Chloe. The horror. If it makes you feel better, about four weeks ago I legit forgot to pick up Carson from school. Those dang early-release days. He was standing outside IN THE RAIN. Actually not my first time forgetting to pick up a kid but it was the first time I forgot in the rain 🫠🫠🫠
This is a hilarious story, Ashlee. The kids will probably find it funny one day.
In high school, my parents and I both thought we had off for Columbus Day. Guess who showed up to school the next day and learned that, nope, school was open! 🙋🏼♀️ I’m sure my mom felt like she was crushing it as well.
Thank you for the shout out Ashlee! And I love this, although sorry about the school calendar screw up. Wait until they are in college. They don't go back to school until late January!!!!
If Jill Atogwe says the jean skirt is a go, then I support it 😏😏 but i can’t bring myself to do it, it’s giving conservative bible college vibes 🤣🤣
Legit LAUGHED OUT LOUD. I accept this feedback. (But also, if I pair it with a tasteful crop top, does that change anything for you?! 🤣)

It really is such a struggle! And just when I find the right jeans I like, I can't figure out how to pair shoes?
YES. This is a big part of it. I can get on board with the relaxed fit, but WHAT SHOES DO I WEAR??
The jeans situation! I’ve never been happier to see the flare/bootcut back “in style” but now to find a pair that actually fits!
Word. High rise without a raw hem is like a diamond that is so hard to come by!!
Try H&M!
Thank you!!
Justine, Kendra - does this work, from Old Navy?

Cute!! Definitely going to Old Navy to try on!
I also worked at the Gap!
100% 😩😩😩

@elizabethjannuzzi * (just learned there’s a short window to edit comments on Substack! Wanted to fix my spelling mistake. 🤦♀️🤪)
That denim skirt is so cute, and now I need a Zara shopping date. Also, laughed out loud at the gyno reference.
I practiced a lot of self-control. Am purposefully not even looking at the online sale 🤪
Oh wow this is like my anxiety dream come to life. Love the humor you found and glad you survived!
This is the way.
Signed, a fellow crushing-it mom who has more stories like this than are quantifiable.
You get me.
This made me laugh but also stressed me out. You're killing it! You survived. They're back in school! Celebrate all the things.
Oh no i can just imagine the disappointment! 😔🫣 Glad ice cream still makes up for it!
I've been devouring the Thursday murder club series - so good and so fun!
Well this was a delight and much needed laugh. What I’m wearing: joggers from Soma. What I’m reading: Mother Daughter Murder Night. What I’m cooking: beef bourginon (https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/beef-bourguignon-recipe-1942045.amp). Just bought my first wide leg denim.
Ina’s recipe is the best recipe! I make it for hubs every winter, but this year he learned to make it on his own--double win!
This wins the internet today.
You know I feel like this is 100% something that I would do! 😆 My youngest has Reading Club the next 12 weeks after school, and I’ve literally set an alarm for every. single. one.
SMART
About to start a reread of “Bird by Bird” myself!
Also... the stress! But also the laughter!
