Yesss, I can totally relate to this, Ashlee. My 5-year-old recently drew “a picture of her broken heart” after she couldn’t do something she wanted to do. It was sad but truly, is actually very, very sweet to see those moments where feelings become ART. Also, I just ordered the Pepper MVP Multiway Strapless Bra and LOVE it. (Perfect for those of us who are ...hmmm how should I say this? Deflated from breastfeeding multiple children? Sure, let's go with that. <3 )

My daughter also figured out early on that going into her room on her own helps her get more regulated. It was hard when everything we read these days is about sticking close to them, letting them know you’re there for them.

Now that she is 8 I know to leave her be for a while! And sometimes she needs a hug in her room after. I’m glad she/we have created a space that she can feel safe in, that is her own. She chooses to go there whether content, sad, or angry.

Our son spends almost no time in their shared bedroom, doesn’t need that time or space. They are so different!

Haha this is so sweet! I work with children and am always shocked when all of a sudden they do something they couldn’t before. It always feels like an overnight transition. Scribbles for years and then one day a doll. I love this :)

My daughter is about 2 months younger than Presley - I love that we’ll notice similar things around the same time. 🧡 (been following C+C since you were pregnant with her)

Currently reading.. Out of the Silent Planet by CS Lewis (my mom bought me the whole trilogy and I’m trying to get through it by Mother’s Day 😅), and Stardust by Neil Gaiman.

Just made a dinner ideas spreadsheet because I can’t remember what my family likes to eat. 😆

What a sweet girl! It's so fun to watch our kids grow in life and as artists! I , too, have one of those who feels all the emotions and pours them into her art. =)

Love the sad girl art. 😍

Yay for no phone in the bedroom! I started using an alarm clock years ago and will never go back! Looking forward to the podcast episode!

My daughter is ten and I love connecting over emotions. She is a very emotion driven person and is at the age where she doesn't understand them all the time. I've begun asking her, "why do you think you feel sad?" (or whatever she is feeling) and ask deeper questions so we can understand emotions and reactions together. It's been a very bonding experience.

I am SO excited for the Jean Twenge interview! I've been very slowly reading her book Generations (fascinating!) and have also appreciated seeing a lot of hwr research be referred to in The Anxious Generation.

I loved our conversation with her! Super eye-opening and convicting. Just ordered Anxious Generation and can't wait to read it.
