this was the reminder I needed that I should still go upstairs and do my Pilates because it feels good to move my body, but it’s okay if I choose a restorative routine instead of a challenging one. 💕

my son’s birthday is also in january (on the same day as mine 🤪), and after scouring the internet and realizing every indoor thing costs a bajillion dollars per kid, we opted for a hot chocolate bar, popcorn, and “robin hood” alongside cousins, followed by chicken nuggets and tater tots and a chocolate chip cookie cake for dessert. going simple was one of the best decisions i made. i also love the idea of the pre-birthday date to talk with the birthday kid about what they want!

Oooh, how I love a good restorative yoga class! I'm so glad you allowed yourself to slow down and reflect on all of the ways that God has encouraged you to slow down and rest.

As someone who is just getting back into movement after years of injury and who, just yesterday, went to a yoga class where I was the youngest but least flexible, I appreciate this outlook on bolsters and blocks. Both literally and metaphorically. 🫶🏼

❤️❤️❤️ Keep going! It only gets better (in my humble experience).

Dr. Robby and his little glasses FOREVER!! As a fellow March baby, I cannot WAIT to spend my birthday reading Anne Lammot’s 📖 + the new C+C 📚!

We'll have to toast in March one of the times you're in town! Dr. Robby and his little glasses 🤣

I recently got 'The Correspondent' on Audible. I've heard great things and I'm exciting to listen! Also, pumped about 'Love like a Mother.'

Nine years later 💛 And what a release date!! 🍀 You, too, are a block, a bolster, a blanket. Keep making your art. It matters.

Pre-ordered the book. Can’t wait!! And I would def love a full recap of how the PJs and TJs party goes! That sounds so fun!

Just started the second season of The Pitt. I love that show so much. And I just started reading “All the light we cannot see” - it was our book club pick. But I really want to read The Correspondent. I saw the east village bookshop picked it for their book club.

The image of props bringing us closer to the ground—closer to safety, to being held—feels like a quiet rebuke to performance-driven living, especially for those of us who confuse exhaustion with virtue. I love how the metaphor widens from the mat to community, naming dependence not as weakness but as grace made visible through other people. There’s something deeply freeing in realizing that rest can still count, that softness can still be formative, and that nothing has to burn or shake for something meaningful to have happened. This is the kind of writing that gently lowers the nervous system and reminds the soul it doesn’t have to earn its place. https://theeternalnowmm.substack.com/p/seeing-clearly-lenses-history-and?r=71z4jh

Loved reading this! Every time you weave yoga into your writing, it makes me want to sign up for a yoga class.

Also, incredibly honored to be in your list of links! I love the one about asking kids for what their expectations are of their birthday. It's amazing how simple their requests usually are.

David and I have been loving Pluribus, too! Since it was the same writers of Breaking Bad, it was an easy sell for my husband. Severance is our other show of choice, but we've watched through all of that AND Pluribus, so we're just sitting and waiting for new episodes/seasons... rewatching Seinfeld in the meantime, lol.

The Correspondent is so good! So thankful for all you’ve shared about learning to rest—your words have been such a gift on my own journey to embrace rest! ❤️

Love this! The post I’m working on next is about trying to be gentler with change, and what you describe here in your yoga class is very much along those lines. Thanks so much, too, for linking my last post! 💞
